Rain, rain, go away./We should have bought an ark.

We've had quite a bit of rain this weekend and it's wreaking havoc in our neighborhood.  Our next door neighbor has temporarily abandoned her home, as it is partially under water.  We are more fortunate in that our house sits up a little higher, though part of our yard has turned in to a pond.  The fire department was over last night and said this is the worst storm since '79.  They unofficially dubbed our yard, along with the neighbor's yard and house, "Lake Vaughan" (we live on Vaughan Rd.).  It's been raining since 4:30 a.m. yesterday and isn't predicted to stop sometime tonight or tomorrow.  Good news is the weather is supposed to clear up during the week.  Bad news is it's supposed to rain again all next weekend.  Oh boy!

We're still in the transition of moving all of our stuff from the old house to the new house, but we're getting settled in and it's starting to feel like home!  We are so happy to be out of our old, drafty, energy-deficient rental house and are enjoying the benefits and challenges of owning our own home.  Speaking of challenges, Chris is especially happy that the new riding lawn mower arrives tomorrow!  Push mowing a acre of lawn isn't as fun or easy as one might think, especially a lawn that has hills and trees and bushes all over the place.

We haven't painted upstairs yet and all the furniture is in the middle of the floor, so we only have pictures of downstairs for now.  We plan to start painting today and will post pictures of upstairs as soon as it's finished...or at least a little more organized than it is right now.

1) the love seat and sofa recline, making for a relaxing Friday night watching a movie

2) the coffee table top lifts up into a table, making for a relaxing Friday dinner while watching a movie.
