Thanks to everyone!

Evan's fundraiser at school has officially come to a close and with everyone's help, he was able to raise $325!  We can't thank you all enough!!  The fundraiser wrapped up with this week's celebration of the national "Week of the Young Child."  Each day had a different theme and lots fun activities to participate in.

Monday was pajama day and Evan proudly sported his Buzz Lightyear p.j.'s.  He must have been really comfy, because he doesn't look quite awake yet in this picture.

We forgot to take his picture on Tuesday, but it was patriotic day.  I don't feel too bad since the red/white/blue plaid shorts he got last summer are still too big and he wasn't able to wear them.  He'll be two in just a couple weeks and I'm still buying 12-18 month pants because he's so skinny.  Oh well.

Wednesday was sports day.

Thursday was beach and bubbles day.

And, Friday was "I'm special because..." and wear your favorite color day.  We were given a blank card and were told to cut it into any kind of shape we wanted and then decorate it, including writing down five reasons why Evan is special.  His teachers made his train shape into a fun hat to wear today.

Trike-a-thon update.

Evan's Trike-a-thon at school was today.  He had a blast riding his four laps around the track!  Even though the big event is done, his school is still fundraising and hosting a number of events this coming week.  If you're still interested in donating, Evan's webpage will be up through April 18.  We wouldn't normally ask family and friends to participate in school fundraisers, but this is an important one.  Evan's school asked that every student try to raise at least $50, and Chris and I made sure Evan met that goal, but every extra dollar earned helps assure the hospital is able to provide exceptional care for their patients.  We can attest first hand to the wonderful care St. Jude's provides through their doctors and staff.  Our dear friends, Scott and Jonnett Maurer, both worked for St. Jude's before moving to Pittsburgh, and we can't think of two more loving, caring people to represent what St. Jude's is all about.  www.mytrikeathon.org/evanjames

Welcome, Baby Bethany!

We are so excited a new addition was added to our family last Saturday evening, April 6th, just one week overdue!  Bethany Grace Dunning was born at 9:24 pm and weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz.  Evan's pretty excited to be a big cousin once again, and refers to Bethany as, "Joy's baby!"  Joy, Mark and Bethany are all doing well.  We're so excited for them and can't wait to meet the little munchkin!!!!
